About UsThe first rule of Teen Services Underground is: tell everyone you know about Teen Services Underground! One Comment Deborah Carter Day January 19, 2015 Hi, I’m a teen services library in Ypsilanti, Mi at the Whittaker Road location of our library. We have two other smaller locations, Michigan Avenue and Superior, and one bookmobile. We don’t have a “real” teen area, but we do have a small section (room) with floor to ceiling glass and teen fiction. It’s more a through way to other areas such as youth and music, and because of the design of our library, you can’t really hold programs for teens there because of the noise level–all our areas are open to the upstairs adult areas except for the youth area. It is very difficult to get teens to come to programs because they are so busy with so many other things. Even when they are super programs, I rarely get more than 2 or 3 teens–tho’ some of my jewelry programs have gotten up to 10. SIGH. We have plans for a teen area, but that is down the road because of funding challenges. We will eventually have a real teen area but that might be two or three years down the road.
