You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers! Our volunteer Agents are on the job! Here’s what they have to say this week….
Question: What is the name of your regularly scheduled teen program and how did you come up with it?
Emma (Brooklyn Public Library) says:
I work in a large multi-branch system. We have standard name prefixes for our programs across branches which were created by the YA Services Coordinator with input from staff.
The names are:
Teen Tech Time-any YA technology or gaming program
DIY–Teen Arts & Crafts or hands-on program
Movies @ the Library
Sarah (Warren-Trumbull County Public Library) says:
My regularly scheduled program has changed throughout the years depending which day it was on. Right now every Thursday we host ‘Game Night’, and the flyer simply says Every Thursday is GAME NIGHT! In past, however, we’ve had Makerspace Mondays, Teens on Tuesday, Midweek Mayhem (Wednesdays), Thursdays at Main, and First Friday (when we did something that was held the first Friday of the month). Most the kids pay no attention whatsoever to the name.
Andrea (TSU) says:
Mine change throughout the years as well. A lot of the times my ideas either come from the teens themselves or I tweak a program that I’ve heard from another library. I only hold mine monthly, but some that I’m currently doing is Library Nerdy Con & Friday Night Madness.
