Is April over already? This month we talked about school outreach and partnerships.
Week One: The month kicked off with ten questions to ask about schools in your community as you get started with thinking about school outreach.
Week Two: Three of the TSU agents shared their perspectives on working with schools. The general theme was persistence and trying lots of different things.
Week Three: Evan shared his experiences in this longer piece. It includes A Tale of Two Public & School Library Relationships: his experience collaborating (or not!) with public libraries while working in a school library and how his current public library system connects with schools. A must read!
In the TSU Facebook group, there was a great thread about booktalking in schools: What books have you been booktalking to schools/teens, especially those middle schoolers?. Elsewhere online, the Youth Services Section of the Wisconsin Library Association posted Howdy Pardner! School Public Library Cooperation and TSU Agent Eden wrote about Advocating for School Libraries and Librarians.
Thanks to everyone who participated this month! In May, we will be talking about Measuring Success and Failure. Look for our challenge questions next Monday!
