Libby and May became best friends in 5th grade, when they both had doctor’s notes to get out of PE. They sat together on the sidelines and invented a comic book character: Princess X. For years, they filled binders with Princess X’s adventures. Then, at the end of 8th grade, Libby and her mom both died in a car accident, and that was the end of Princess X. May never told anyone about the character they’d made up. But one day, years later, May finds a sticker of Princess X stuck on a street corner. It’s definitely the same Princess X Libby used to draw, but no one else knows about her… and Libby is supposed to be dead. May pokes around online and discovers that Princess X is a popular webcomic. As May reads the comic, she realizes that it has to be written by Libby. And it’s full of clues that only May would understand–clues that say Libby is alive, but needs help. It also includes pieces of the Princess X comic, so you can try to find the clues yourself. [when booktalking I show off pages of the comic]

This book is a page-turning mystery–I read it all in one night. so it’s a fun read for fans of mysteries as well as the power of comics.
