As the year comes to a close, it’s an apt time to reflect on your accomplishments, no matter how big or small. Here’s what some of the Teen Services Underground agents have been up to this year. Share your own successes in the comments!
Whitney: This year has been my second year as a full-fledged teen services librarian and I finally feel like I’m hitting my stride! Some of my highlights from the year include: getting consistent attendance at my weekly video game drop-in program, co-hosting a super fun Harry Potter book club, and winning an internal system grant to launch a series of Lego Mindstorms programs. Here’s to even more fun in 2016!
Pamela: I finally feel like I’m developing a core group of teens that I can rely on for my programs. Starting two different clubs, fandom and anime, helped them see that I’m not just there to make them read books. I was also really pleased with teen participation in the summer reading program as well. This was our first year doing online sign-up and it worked wonderfully! The highlight was definitely my Hogwarts Hysteria program, and I’m going to have to do that one again next year.
Andrea: Whew, this year marked my 7th year as a teen services librarian. My year has kind of been all over the place. I was able to step back a bit on programming as my co-workers stepped up to help out, which was greatly appreciated. It meant that I got to focus more on new services like my teen kits, RA booklets, and even a bit of presenting. Of course, 2015 also marks the end of the first year of TSU! When I started this project, I never imagined it would become what it is! So, thank you to all the readers for making this part of my successes this year!
