Resources: Three Sites for Free Webinars

Whether you’re just starting out in teen librarianship or have been at it awhile, we can all use a burst of fresh ideas every now and then. Webinars are a great way to learn about new topics from colleagues who have expertise, and can be especially useful if you can’t make it to a conference or your work can’t pay for more in-depth training. We’ve pulled together three resources for free webinars to supplement your professional development.

Ideas + Inspiration from Demco

Demco, provider of library supplies, furniture, and equipment, has been producing monthly webinars for the last few years. Topics include library spaces, community engagement, and educational resources. Besides webinars, they also have librarian profiles, an idea gallery, and a blog.

Webjunction from OCLC provides a vast amount of online learning opportunities including webinars and e-courses. New offerings are added on a regular basis and all previous trainings are available to watch for free. They also have a blog and post a monthly list of free webinars from elsewhere, so you’ll never run out of learning opportunities!

Booklist, the book review magazine from the American Library Association, regularly hosts webinars on a variety of book and reader’s advisory topics. They regularly bring in publisher reps to give previews, as well as inviting librarians, educators, and reviewers to suggest materials on different topics.
