While most of us agents here at Teen Services Underground work in public libraries, school librarians often deal with the same sets of challenges. Here are two excellent blogs written by school librarians from which you can gain ideas, insights, and inspiration, whether you’re a public librarian, school librarian, or something in between!
The Mrs. ReaderPants
blog is written by Leigh, a school librarian. She is currently a grades 6-12 librarian at an international school in China and was previously a middle school librarian in Texas. Her site has a huge archive of book reviews with detailed notes on content, age levels, and curriculum connections. Besides the reviews, check out her library ideas and book talk presentations, plus read her insight on living in China.
Blogging as the Unquiet Librarian, Buffy Hamilton is a high school librarian in Georgia. Her blog, active since 2007, is filled with in-depth posts about the innovative programs she runs for her students. Not only are the posts detailed and informative, they’re helpfully illustrated with great photos and more recently, Vines.
