This art style might look familiar to you. Emily Carroll’s artwork is very popular on Tumblr and elsewhere on the internet. Even if you haven’t seen her work before, you’ll definitely want to check out her first book, Through the Woods. It’s a super creepy graphic novel that includes six different scary stories about all kinds of creatures and people who you might find in the woods,. They remind me a little bit of the old Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series, but with even more creepy illustrations. You might think this would be a good book to read at Halloween, and you’re probably right, but I think it’s also a good one to read in the winter. You can get cozy with a bunch of blankets and remind yourself that you’re safe and warm inside, and nothing out in the woods can hurt you… probably.
